THE STORY
The Understory Collection was inspired by the idea that living in harmony with the seasons brings our lives into balance. In Winter, just like mother earth, we enter a state of deep rest (or hibernation). It is this period of rest that allows for the cycle of life to continue to bloom again in Spring.
Breathe Deep was inspired by the quiet cedar forests of the Pacific Northwest. For one whole winter, I walked through the cedars and felt their power vibrating all around me. Their strong and silent presence along the many nature trails I walked wrapped me in a sense of comfort and peace. With rain soaked bark and dewy needles, the scent of the cedars filled the air and as I breathed in their woody perfume my body felt like she was coming home. Everything about these trees inspired a deep sense of calm to wash over me. This painting is inspired by the feeling of taking deep breaths in the forest and knowing you are home in mother natures embrace.
